Love Lives

Easter is not just a reason to dress pretty. It's not just a day to watch your kids find the eggs you hid in the backyard. It's not about how big a basket you did or didn't put together. It's not about bunnies or Spring or pastels or when its safe to wear white. It hurts my heart that so many think that's all this day is about.

Easter changed everything. Forever.

Why? Because we aren't perfect. Perfection can't be joined with the imperfect or its no longer perfect. God is perfect so to be with Him, we'd have to be perfect, too. But we aren't. That doesn't mean you aren't good. It doesn't mean I don't try. But we aren't perfect. Period. So when we die, we have to be separated from God. We can't spend eternity in Heaven. That separation breaks God's heart, so He made a sacrifice. A perfect one. One that would die and go to that place separated from God. But if that perfect sacrifice just died, it wouldn't mean anything. He had to fight death and win. 

The consequence for being imperfect is to die apart from God. So when Jesus died, he took that consequence in your place. But then...then He came back to life! And when he rose from the dead, He beat death. He bought your life back from the consequence you deserve. 

Easter changed everything. Forever.

Why? Because Jesus didn't just say He loves you, He proved it. He is the definition of true love. And when He rose from the dead, he proved that Love Lives! It's not dead. It wasn't a one time thing. It's an everyday, all day, with you no matter what junk comes your way kind of Love. It's living and active. It's alive because He's alive.
